I gave her a little more of her kibble before bed last night, after she attacked a few fallen frenchfries, and she was fine. she slept in her crate with the back door open, but once she settled in her crate she was out for the night. This morning she is very happy, and a bit quiet. She HATES the liquid med, but it is so easy to give to her. I have a bad feeling about trying to keep her subdued for 2 weeks! Her stitches are dissolving, so we don't have to go have them removed. She has to go back for an ear re-check though.

Just a word about soup bones...
some stores slice them rather 'thin' so that the marrow cooks quickly and through but you don't want small pieces...you want something that the dog cannot choke on, or swallow, so ask for them to be about 6inches long, and ok if they are split down the middle, exposing the marrow cause most dogs will lick the bone well even after the marrow seems to be gone...the flavor lasts!
Happy girl
Yeah she did really well. I think that 2 weeks is a lot to ask of our girls, but i did the meds for 3 nights and that kept her a little subdued during the day which helped. Josie plays a little but she still doesnt do her "big girl stretch," and she still wants me to loft her in the truck. she does, however, have no problem getting up on the sofa and sleeping after breakfast. tee hee. I am glad your Audrey did so well. I looked at Josies incision site this morning (as she lounged on the sofa) and it looks great. She has disolving stitches on the inside and glue on the outside. I am glad to hear she has done so well. J & T
sorrry meant............
the meat manager at the grocery store. we have a butcher at a slauder house here..but I do not get them there..although they would be bigger and cheaper likely. just get the grocery store ..meat manager to order them for me..and pick them up when shopping.
good to hear Audrey is over the worse
how is she now??
going to be hard to keep her still though for sure
we don't have butchers where we live
we are lucky to get a grocery store! But we do have slaughter houses. And no I can't walk in one, but my husband does to get beefheart for his fish. Maybe they'll have some.
I am so glad it's over!My main worry was the ansethesia, so now that it's over I feel so relieved!

was just thinking of her and you too
Glad to hear that she had a good night.
she will learn what she can and can not do. it will hurt so she will likely not push it.
Bella by a few days later..you could not even tell anything had happened.
wish I had recovered as fast as Bella did.lol
KEEP a close watch that she does not try to get at that incision. that was something I really tried to watch with Bella. it was not her that was the issue but the other dogs..that tried to clean it. IF Audrey does get at it somehow..on goes that lampshades..and they really do not like them at all..
hope she continues to improve
I bet you are soo glad that the worst part of the surgery is over..
I found when I gave Bella those meds..she frothed at the mouth a bit. I remember the vet says that it was just a reaction to the meds.but still made me wander.
go to the butcher and ask them to get you some soupbones in or just call them and ask them. I sometimes have to order them here ahead of time and pick them up...but they do great for keeping a dog quiet for a bit anyhow..
