Two weeks ago we switched Boris from Science Diet to Natural Balance chicken and sweet potato. The pet store said that Boris would need to "detoxify". If that means having the runs for two weeks straight I'm not sold on the new food.
We switched because we feared that the Science Diet was contributing to his head shakes..which happened yesterday again. We've gradually mixed the food down as directed but he's still loose as a goose.
Boris doesn't like the new food and eats half his bowl at each serving if that. I even have to put pieces of cheese in his bowl just to entice him to stick his nose in there. In the past he'd have his food gone in seconds and be excited to eat.
Any thoughts? Should we try another blend or just wait it out? A half of Pepto helps a little but would rather him be able to eat and ENJOY his food.

We use pumpkin to combat soft stools and immodium if its really
We have used pumpkin on and off since dozer was a pup and for really bad runs we use plain immodium caplets, 2 a day with his food and they work great. Also if the runs are bad,bad we stop all food for 24hrs only water and then give a small amount of kibble with two immodiums and keep him on that for 2-3 days then we usuallu give just pumpkin after that. It has worked like a charm with our bulllie who was very prone to the soft stools as a pup and young adult.
It's great for diarhea also.

Pumpkin
I thought pumpkin was to be used for constipation. Am I incorrect?
Some dogs don't do well on chicken...
maybe a different protein would be better like duck or fish. You can put a tablespoon of pumpkin on each meal to help firm him up.
