1 week old E.B. pup with milk coming out of nose problem

their palets were checked and ok'd. wondering what else could be going on. He's the runt of the litter and half the size of the biggest (23 oz) Is he just underdeveloped or is there something else going on...thought about tubing only and not putting on mom at all anymore. I try to get one of the bigger ones to start the sucking to maybe have the flow slower when he gets on and that seems to help, but when he's done it will come out sometimes. Any advice is welcome.

Mine too

It also happened to 3 of mine and just wiped it off and let them continue sucking. I watched them like a hawk though while they were sucking. I gave them 5 minutes and then took them away. I alway put them to the front with less milk. They are 13 weeks old now and all are doing great. Just have to be patient and they will be fine. Good luck and post pictures when you can.

thanks for the reassurance

They all seem very agressive suckers, even the runt, he just keeps filling up faster and getting done earlier than the others. Thanks for the advice!

Had same problem with my runt...

She is now 12 weeks and doing great. I would still allow mine to nurse but stayed with her and would watch her closely. When I would see milk bubbles, I would take her off mom and suction. I too tubed her longer than the rest of my litter, as she was being pulled off mom and I was afraid that she wouldn't get enough (and for a few days, the scales showed it). Also, you might try bottle feeding, as I really think the problem has to do with them not being able to coordinate the sucking/swallowing...just like some human babies.

Good luck and keep a close eye on the pup, even check her after the feeding is over and you've put him/her up. Mine would sometimes have milk come back up through her nose. I had another breeder/vet tell me that often times these were her healthiest dogs, once grown as far as breathing problems went.

Nice

My girl's grandfather is Hetherbull Kastlerocks Norm. She has the most wonderful disposition I have ever seen in a bulldog. She is so comical. Love both those lines so I'm sure they are awesome.

thanks..

I would love to post pics but I would get in trouble due to the fact I'm not a registered breeder with bulldogsworld. I can tell you they are Topline/Hetherbull "Tigger" pups happy.gif and we LOVE them!!! Thanks for the advice, we will stay the coarse!!

Sucking too fast.....

When I had a pup do that I took them off momma or stopped feeding and used a nostril bulb and cleaned them up.
