I have read through the posts about tail amputation. I had to have Molly done as well as a spay. Since I got her it was a very big trouble spot and the Vet made the suggestion. We did it on the 3rd of Jan and it only took about a week for her to be back to normal.
No more constant scratching, infection or sores.
Her tail was very tight and deep.
Molly does not have any issues with that area anymore and she even has a much easier time pottying. It will be so nice when all the hair grows back.
What a cute little tushy
We're weird here, but we love bully butt shots. :)
Me too
I would do anything in the world for her. She still backs up to everyone for her scratch but the tail is no longer a problem.
Molly...
so glad to hear she's doing well.
Thank you
Molly is doing great. When I looked into the surgery for her tail amputation so many people were reluctant to have it done. It was a wise choice for her. I believe in the 4 years the breeder had her she did not get her tail cleaned often enough which led to her problems being compunded.
I almost cancelled the surgery several times after reading posts about the dangers. I did everything I knew to keep it clean but no matter how hard I tried it just didn't help her. I would hope that anyone considering the surgery will not be afraid to make life easier for their dog. There are really good vets out there, just take your time and find a good surgeon who specalizes in bulldogs and knows the issues facing many of them. Molly's quality of life is so much better today.

Sometimes there is no other option.
A tail would be nice but...
I appreciate all the kind messages. It was a tough decision but not one made lightly. She is so happy and healthy now.
My little tank as I affectionately call her. The world rumbles under her feet.
