In between curling and hockey last night I was getting ready to take Gus out for a walk. there was someone at my door. it was the people out for a walk..with the deaf timid scared bulldog I am helping. They stopped to thank me for the Wake UP Call for their bulldog.
they read the book I gave them on living with a deaf dog. they got Harley a laser point to play with him..he loves it. they are also getting him out for walks. a few car rides even.
so there is light at the end of the tunnel..lol thank goodness for this bulldog.
took the bullies for a walk together. first the sniff sniff sniff, then the pee pee pee...lol. they got along fine. we kept some distance with them though. both bulldogs walk awesome. that is the one thing about the deaf dogs..they usually do walk better..since they are soo in tune with the owners..walking.
all and all I am happy with the progress of this bulldog. I told them that I will come and do some sign language for this bulldog. but I want them to JUST play with him some more..and things like that first and I need to heal some...but NICE that they are making an attempt to love this bulldog
BULLDOGS are people dogs. someone that is not willing to walk them, play with them and have some fun with them..should not own one. they are very special dogs and should be treated that way. those are my thoughts anyhow
thanks...YEA put a big smile on my face...
I was really worried silly about this bulldog
nice to see these people put some time in with Harley
he looked much happier last night too..
deafness is harder on the owner then on the dog as the vet says
the dog adapts no problem with deafness so we can too.
at least they are playing with Harley and walking him
big time change from a week ago
I was smiling cheek to cheek last night
and swollen..lol and all
Happy Report!
Sounds like great progress!
Iz Winter Over?
swollen but a bit better ...
I am not taking the meds anymore.. they are doing wild things to my breathing. so just taking advil instead for now.
this is going to be slow
fair amount of swelling yet but that should get better sometime soon I think too.
called the dentist..feel a bit numb on the one side of my face..but that is normal.
a slow waiting game but I am better
thanks for asking
it is good news about Harley. that put a smile on my face big time..yesterday
that is wonderful
they are so lucky to have someone like you, keep up the good work, how are you feeling Pat?
me too....I feel tons better now at least about HIM...
they are finding it easy to take him for walks
they love that he will play some now. that is a big one.. considering he played NONE at all yet..even if it is just a laser pointer but better then nothing.
they took him for a drive and he was fine in the car too
they have kids....so they are interacting with him too...
all way around better for all concerned
especially harley
they are truly people dogs..
thanks
appreciate the support
I am glad things are much better for this bulldog
I agree...
bulldogs are big people dogs
mine are always near me all the time
do whatever I am doing..lol litterally
they love to be around people, play, get petted and so on
it is what I love about the breed too
this other bulldog get much better as they interact with him more and more as well.
big change though in a week...
hope they keep this up
I was truly worried about harley and his owners

that's great, Pat!!! :-) (nm)
yea me TOO...
Gus says maybe a playmate..lol will see.
so nice to see them get Harley at least out and about. a walk is good for everyone.. he was truly excellent on the leash for them and that is a big plus. they said they are getting him out quite a bit for a walks and that should help their bonding process as well with him.
playing with the laser pointer is great for a deaf dog. they love things that move and lights especially. told them to make sure they do not shine it in his eyes. I know Gus really loves to chase it. they sound like they are playing quite a bit more with Harley as well with the laser. in time he may play with more toys too.
all around a great day
glad for all concerned and me too
I was truly worried about this bulldog
like the vet said, deafness is something we learn to live with. dogs do it naturally..it is the owners that need to adjust to it more.
Happy to read about the "smiles" all around.
Excellent progress for Harley...and maybe a playtime buddy for Gus too.
