Pat, you wanted to hear about bullies who have gone to the Bridge

This is our baby girl, Winnie. She was 9 yrs and 4 mths when we lost her to pancreatitis on 9-16-07. Winnie was full of life and love. She had hip dysplasia which led to pretty bad arthritis, but she never let it get her down. We took her to water therapy the last year of her life. She also had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis at about age 4, but we caught it early and she recovered quickly with an overnight stay in the ER. She had a severe sinus staph infection at 8 and had to have sinus surgery. That girl went through a lot, but always had a smile on her face. We will miss her forever.

The last two weeks of her life she kept taking out all of her toys and playing with them...looking back it's as if she knew and wanted to get in all the play time she could!

The toy story is so sweet

it reminds me of a story I heard on the news about an Australian family and their dog. One night the family dog went into the parents' room, walked to one side of the bed and stood up to lick the hand of the wife/mother, then went around the bed and did the same to the husband/father. Their dog then went into the bedrooms of each of the children. The next morning they found her dead in her dog bed in the kitchen. It was as though she went to each to kiss them goodbye.

Winnie holds a special place in my heart & at my kitchen table.

happy.gif It's amazing how Malcolm also started being really, really playful (almost puppylike) two weeks before he passed. I agree, it's like they knew and wanted to get some play time in before leaving. We will always miss you sweet, Winnie!

Aww, thanks...yep, she loved to travel in the RV and now

Hooch is enjoying it too. He doesn't "show' his happiness as she did, but his start in life was very different...as long as he is content, we've done our job.

Thank you, Pat!

Similar behavior with Rocky

Frist Winnie was a beautifil girl. What a smile.

I'm glad you wrote about Winnie's behavior the last couple of weeks. I had noticed Rocky playing with his toys again. It was bitter cold here and very deep snow. We made paths around the back yard for him but he would stick his had in the snow and try climbing in the deep snow. He also would just stand out in the back yard and look up and around.

I think they know when they are going to leave us.

wow..what a touching story..

very well written
can hear the love of her in your thread.
thanks for sharing..
nice to remember the ones that have gone
forever in our hearts
