O/T for ebay bidders

One huge thing I have noticed lately on items I have searched on ebay is the shipping charge. There have been plenty of items I would have bid on but they are trying to rip us off on the shipping. I ship a lot at the office so I am very familiar with shipping costs. I absolutely refuse to bid on an item when I see that the sellar is charging $25.00 for shipping costs, when I know darn good and well that the item will fit in the post office flat rate box that has a $10 shipping charge. Before you bid, always check to see what the shipping charge is. You can go to the post office website (www.usps.com) and check out the box sizes and see what the flat rate is. I was going to bid on a small item tonight and saw the shipping was $25.00. Please!!!!! I sent a huge box full of christmas stuff that weighed a ton and sent it fedex and my charge was $11.00.

well

the people who stole my money were very generous and left me a WONDERUL feedback. lmao. Almost rubbing it in my face. Nice!

I HATE eBay

I had 3 experiences with them, and all 3 had problems. I got a coach purse, and the lady sent me the next sized smaller one, I got a used PSP, and when it came in, the buttons were broken off it, (no mention of THAT in the description)AND the dumb a** guy left his pictures on it too. The 3rd time I ordered a jewlery stand, from the sellers site that said item's in stock, only to be contacted by her saying it was NOT in stock, pick another one. I didn't want another one it was the unique color I was looking for. No big deal right? Well that seller had a fit and gave ME negative feedback, saying I refused to pay for the item!!! So that whole feedback system is BS. I only had 3 feedbacks, and one of them was negative, so people could very well refuse to do business with me beacuse of it. I cancelled my account and that was it for me.

be careful also...

I may as well post this warning too... I have ordered a lot of items from ebay and had never had any problems with the sellers. I always look at their score before I buy and make sure they are legit but I still got taken for $100. The seller took the money and closed their store. Kept giving me the run around and I didnt realize there is only 45 days to file your complaint with ebay, after that they cant do anything to get your money back. These people had a high rating and had sold 1000's of items but in this economy I guess people are getting desperate. Lesson learned the hard way, just thought I would share. happy.gif

well since Ebay bought and took over PayPal,

its ridiculous. PayPal has now become just as much of a ripoff. Ebay and PayPal together have gotten so greedy that it is nothing but a huge con.

Can you tell I dont like them much??? lol

Long time Ebayer here..

And unfortunatley it's true. Ebay has gotten so stingy with there fee's and whatnot that they practically rip off the seller's by charging so much. So unfotunatley listing an item at say.99 cents and then charging higher shipping is the only way most sellers can break even on their items. I myself have done this many times if i knew i wasn't going to get what my item was worth. It's a sneaky way to beat the system but a necessary one if you want to break even or even make a lil money off of an item.

the reason for it is that they dont want to price the item itsel

fees that ebay takes out ! i just looked at dog crates .. a lot are starting for $0.99 bbut then cost $60 in shipping.... that way the seller still gets the full price for the crate but doesnt have to pay that much in ebay fees !

VERY good advice!

We made the mistake of bidding on an item, winning it, only to find out the shipping charges were double the cost of the item! Since the item weas so cheap to start off with, and the cost + shipping was what the average price was, we did pay it, but boy did we learn a lesson from it.

Absolutely!

I've even called some folks on it and they've gone ahead and changed the shipping costs. It an item's shipping is overprices, they've lost my business!

ha seems like you would be my "ebay partner in crime" lol yea im
