IT seems like yesterday...these lasted a MONTH or more for Bella to chew.....PIC

bought Bella some pig ears since she is my nurse..lol. but wow when I told my son to get her a few pig ears..he bought a bag of 25... moral of the story..do not give your son your debit card to shop..hahahha. told him to buy her a few tennis balls and he bought her a bag of 15 of them too..
so Bella is set up to nurse ..even a nurse needs a gift here and there...she has been great

she used to take a month or more to eat these, now they are just like candy but she still loves them just as much as she did as a pup. the ones I got are large. not sure if they are real pig ears or just pieces of pork rind but she loves them..

anyone tried them on their bullies??

Gus loves them too. the pugs could care less about them...

No pig ears, rawhide or greenies

I once pulled a soggy piece of rawhide out of a dogs throat because it was choking. I haven't given them rawhide since.

Zeke is the same way

Loves them and rawhides, but chews them up and eats them and then barfs all over the place.

Stella doesn't get rawhide either

Our first bully undid the knot on the end of his bone and had swallowed about 6 inches of slimey mess until we realized he was choking.

Besides, anything other than her kibble and usual treats gives her "narly butt".

I'd just make sure you are with your nurse at all times when she's enjoying her treat.

Thats why I dont give rawhide or rope toys...

I nearly lost Henry with a rope from a toy he managed to chew loose and swallow- the WHOLE thing. He ended up thropwing it up 3 MONTHS LATER!! I know people who have lost their dogs to rawhide too. Gets all slimey and softens into a wad of crap that blocks the throat and kills the dog.

My dogs only get Nylabone Big Chew toys (not regular Nylas) and stuffies, when supervised with them. The only thing I will leave out for them when Im not home are the Nylabone Big Chews. Just not worth the risk.

Bella and Gus are fine with them..maybe lucked out here...

both of them love the pig ears
they do not get them that often but they are fine with them.
although I am really close to them when they have them as well..
the biggest issue I have is how fast they can chew them down...

I guess some dogs have real issues with these..

maybe I just got lucky with my bullies and the pig ears.
Bella loves them the most and she is totally fine with them.
never had an issue with them..at all with her.
Gus on the occasion gets a slimey mess..I just toss the old ear and give him a fresh one..
but Gus does not go crazy over them like Bella

Not us

They get very slimmey and have been known to get lodged in their throats and become a choking hazard. Back when we had our Lab, Rottweiler and German Shepard they had no problem with them. Different story with our Bulldog's!! happy.gif

Pig ears

I can't give them to Doyle, although he loves them. He can't seem to chew them from the edges in. He just mashes the whole thing into a sloppy mess and then tries to swallow it. He choked on one once and I had to pull the whole sloppy mess from his throat. My brothers lab eats them with no issues at all but not my boy!!

it is not the teeth of the bulldog but the jaw that smashes thes

Bella has crappy teeth but her jaw is very very strong.
she goes through these in about 5 minutes now a piece
they are being spaced out ....so she can take her time..
they are not cheap..but she loves them..
