I'm a little worried

It's off topic for bulldogs, I know, but I'm a mom and so I worry. My pug, Adminzona has been barfing all day long. She hasn't been able to keep anything down all day. I've been trying to give her water, but as soon as she drinks it all comes back up. Her forhead feels a little warm too so I'm worried that she might have a bug. Can dogs have pepto bismal, or what can I give to calm her tummy? If she's still throwing up tomorrow I'll call her doctor. She's 8 years old and she's lived a very sheltered life. She's my special needs child so I worry a lot!

If you have any suggestions that would be great!

Thanks a lot,

I've never been there!!

Thanks for the website! I'm going to check it out!

I was dumb when I got Arizona. I just knew I wanted a pug. I didn't do any research or anything. Bought her from an ad in the paper. No true contract. Nothing. The lady "guaranteed" her dogs for a year from any health issues. She was 8 weeks old when I picked her up and it was around 4 months old when I discovered a problem developing with her eyes. She needed to have eye surgery and so I scheduled it. I called the "breeder" and the only part of health issues she was willing to do was ask me to return my puppy and she would give me another. I told her I wasn't going to give Arizona back. Forever home means forever. Anyway, she refused to help with any issues, which I knew she would after our conversation. She only wanted to put Ari down. So now almost 9 years later I still have her. She's almost blind, but she does great here. She also has a partially collapsed trachea and also an enlarged heart. She's sure to die in surgery at this point so her doctor and I agreed that as long as she's comfortable and happy she's good for now.

Anyway, she's feeling much better today and I'm so happy! I don't know what I'll do when she finally has to leave me!

Have you ever been to the web site "www.blinddogs.com"?

I was just there last night reading some of the wonderful stories about blind dogs that needed homes and the families who took them in. I really admire you for giving Arizona such a wonderful life. Hope she feels much better this morning.

Re: If she continues to be sick

Thanks for your advice. I have an brand new emergency room that just opened last weekend and it's less than 2 minutes from my house. I'll have her there in a heartbeat if she gets worse.

If she continues to be sick

I'd take her into the vet tomorrow. Especially since this is so unusual for her. If she seems to be in pain or gets more lethargic tonite, I'd take her to the ER vet. Best of luck with her. Hope she gets better quickly.

Re: Thanks a lot!!

Awww...the poor baby...I know there's been a couple of times where I laid on a floor with a dog or two. But hopefully, if you give pepto, it will help settle the belly, and everything will be okay.

Thanks a lot!!

Bailey has never been sick so I've never had to worry about her. Arizona hasn't been sick in a long time. I'll check my dog book too, but it seemed like I gave her pepto before. I want to calm her tummy down before bed because I don't want to have to sleep under my desk with her, but I will if I have to. That's where her pillow is and I have a plastic runner there so when she throws up clean up is easier. I don't really want to put her in my bed until I know she's better.

Re: I'm a little worried

Our vet has always okayed us to give our dogs Pepto for upset bellies. Hope everything is okay. Let us know what the vet says.

Re: Can she..

Yes, she can. Today I'm not letting her make any effort. I'm carrying her down the steps from the deck and putting her in the yard. She just seems to feel lousy. I guess like I would if I had the flu. She's still wagging her tail and all. I can't tell by her eyes because she's been mostly blind since birth (4 months old two eye surgeries.)

Can she..

"reliieve herself"..??? Need to make sure she doesn't have some kind of blockage..
