She has been licking a lot lately.....not licking anything exactly.....just air. She will sit there and just lick. I checked her gums and teeth and they seem ok. I am sorry for the description I am not sure how else to describe it!! lol

she starts licking thin air and then gets the head shakes. it stops the licking, but the first time it happend to me i didnt realize the air licking and then she started to have her head kinda twich or shake. some dogs will lick the air and have tremors, or no tremors at all. josie gets her karo syrup now before it gets to head tremors. some have described the tremors to snapping at invisible flys. any way, the karo syrup does it for my girl as her blood sugar drops. it stops instantly withe the syrup. going on in her ear...or there might be something caught under the gums at the back. something like when you get the 'husk' off some popcorn under your gums.

it is because the air is soo much drier at this time of the year in the house. I put on a humidifier here and Bella seems much better. she keeps doing the same thing..licking in the air...at nothing try some humidity somehow maybe even a cool mist vapourizer might help
An itch she can't scratch...
As Elaine said, check all the nooks & crannies!

did you check?
ears, butt, anal sacks, face folds, and vulva area? Check all nooks, crannies, and folds.
When Roxy does that it's usually her ear.

Re: yup
Actually, Jazzy does not have a tail. It was amputated when she was younger. Sorry...should have put that down on my response.

could be her tail. for whatever reason that is usually their reaction same as if when you clean it out good they kind of chomp at the air.
Re: Bella has been doing it too..I think..........
I have been using a humidifier lately, I know the house is so dry. I guess maybe I will turn it up a bit?
