corn cobb ?

I have searched online and found nothing so figured I would ask here... Do corn cobbs make the dogs sick? Mugsy, my pug got ahold of one last night and chewed it for a little bit before we caught him although he didnt really eat the cobb. He has dry heaved 2 times already this morning and am worried that maybe the 2 are related. Should I be worried? He is acting fine and took cookies from me with no problem but I am still anxious about it. Tia happy.gif

same here...

the pugs are food incentive for sure..lol
I have 3 pugs..
the bullies on the other hand just love to play play play.
anything for a game for a ball... I have 2 bullies
the breeds compliment each other nicely.

me too, they are fun!

My 2 boys are actually so similar that it cracks me up. The pug will do ANYTHING for food whereas my bully will do anything for a game of fetch BUT my bully is the one who will eat everything and the pug is more picky with things like lettuce and celery. They both have a thing for tissue tho which cracks me up. Both breeds are wonderful! Glad they were able to get the cobb out safely. happy.gif

YOU could actually see the cobb that was in the intestine..

you could see the cobb when you looked at her.
it was terrible.
rushed her to the vet
and emergency surgery
she was fine but scared the crap out of everyone..
she took the cobb out of the back garbage..we were having a bbq outside..this was many years ago. later we noticed this lump when you looked at her and rushed her to the vet.

my pugs love to get into everything and anything..
one pug I think he would eat just about anything
2 of them are on puggy diets..lol so really watching what they can get into is a CHORE.
they are loosing some weight slowly.
never have this issue with the bulldogs and not into the garbage like the pugs either..

pugs are great dogs though
love both breeds

wow

swallowed it whole?!?! That is crazy! Yeah my 1 year old 2-legged daughter threw it on the floor and before we even knew what happened it was on the couch with Mugsy. lol He isnt choking so much as throwing up so I think maybe he just has a bug. I just needed to be sure if thats all it was since the only thing he had different was the cobb.

PUGS PUGS PUGS.....

I have 3 of them and one of them is a big garbage eater if he gets the chance...
I would watch for other signs with the pugs..but if he is gagging..he might need to be seen by a vet.

My mother had a daschound and they are not that much smaller then a pug. she ate a whole corn cobb and swalled it whole. emergency surgery and everything was awful.

just keep a close watch on the puggie
they can and do get into everything possible..lol

thank you

for your help. happy.gif He is sleeping now so hopefully his tummy is settled. I agree the pugs are crazy! He is a good match for his brother the bully. lol

Hmmmm, crazy pugs!

My sis has one and she is into EVERYTHING - but I love her! (she is a sidewalk scavenger - SO gross)

I generally don't believe in coincidences. I'd keep a close eye on him today to see if he continues to gag. If so, maybe he's got a piece stuck somewhere (wouldn't take that big of a chunk to cause an issue for a pugster). If he keeps doing it, or his breathing/snorffling changes at all, I'd take him in just to be on the safe side.

What a pain... happy.gif

Re: Our dogs chewed them all the time

My husband found it and picked it up so I didnt even see the cobb up close but from far away it seemed to be the same size as before. The kernals were alreasy cut off before he got to it and he just got sick which was 10 hours or so after getting ahold of it. you think it is a coincidence then maybe?

Our dogs chewed them all the time

Nothing in them, per se, that should make him sick. The main danger is them swallowing a chunk of the cob and choking.

Did you notice any particularly big pieces missing?
