I want to take Chester there to get a second opinion, treatment confirmation...my poor baby is not really getting any better, even on prednisone. They put him now on second medication and i just wonder what that does to his little body. He is still seriously anemic, borderline transfusion all the time.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
By the way...I am thinking now it was the shots he received in December that made him sick...
Raven had an excellent Internal Med Specialist
And her personal favorite are mysterious cases. She will listen and review your situation like a detective. And she uses email, which I loved. Since Raven was an ongoing mystery with his liver mets, she was very reachable.
She's not at UCDavis, but her hospital is 24 hour. It's about 35-45 minutes closer to me for you to drive, on the other side of Sacramento. Her name is Dr. Marcia Smith. She's at Loomis Basin Veterinary Hospital. Google it if you like. 916-652-5816.
I hope you can get some answers! Betty is still a mystery, but she feels fine and her last RBC was normal. She goes completely grey now and then, but I'm not going to put her through more tests unless I see a change in her attitude. sigh
Give Chester and Lily a hug from me.

Amy, thanks for response...did you
take your bully there? what for? how happy were you?
oh no
this is getting to be pretty scary, I hope that is was not caused by his shots, it is so hard to know what to do and who to trust, keeping you and the babies in my heart Bernata
sadly it could of been the vacc....
i wish the vet community would get on board and at least decide that we can either titer or go three years without vacc...
every day is a positive day for chester....are they giving him vit b shots....or do you have him on vit b...its used alot for anemia in humans and pets....builds up the blood....
always in my prayers...have chester listed at my church for prayers....
Elaine...standard shots....rabies and other boosters...
I have not posted any pictures as I have been busy driving to vet back and forth all the time. It has been nothing but keeping them alive pretty much here. I worry about my babies so much.
It doesn't look like Dr Berryessa is there anymore
but I think anyone from there would be good.
YES! take him to UC Davis.
They are great there. That is were I took Abby and finally got answers although they were not good. I wish I would have went there from the begining. The Internal Medicine Vet that we saw was Nick Berryessa. He was so compasionate. The good thing about going there is that they have specialist in every dept. so you don't have to make several trips to different places. It is like going to a full on Human hosiptal expect the patients are animals. Everyone says it is so expensive. It isn't. Well at least compared to the other specialists that I took Abby to. It is worth the trip. It can be hard to get into there but if your vet calls he might be able to get you in sooner or REALLY stress that he needs to be seen ASAP. You could also go in on an Emergency Basis where you just show up although the cost is more but I recommend doing that during regular business hours. If you do it after hours then they don't have the full staff of specialist and unless your pet is in dire need they will just send you home. It has been 3 years since I went there so I don't know if Dr. Berryesa is still there. Good Luck, and if you need anymore information please email me.
what vacs did he get?
I'm scared to death to vaccinate. I hate doing it. At least it's only every three years now.
I haven't seen any new Lily and Chester pics in a long time.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

yes, no guidelines and unfortunately, some dogs react badly...
but...Lily had always her regular shots and never a problem. Chester...this is the first time and see what happened? At least this is my suspicion. even my vet starts to think so right now. She said if he is going to make it, he will never gt another shot in his life, he will get a letter from the vet that he cannot get vaccinated because of his disease.
