UTI ??
Submitted by Roxanne2211 on April 20, 2010 - 11:20pmAwhile back , Layla had some green discharge on her vulva after peeing ....brought urine in ( which was clear yellow ) and it showed a slight UTI ( low presence of White blood cells and trace blood .....very little ) She was put on a round of 10 days of Clavamox. 2 weeks or so after finishing the Clavamox I noticed the green drip on her vulva after peeing ( put a tissue up to it and it was green ). Vet now has her on 2 weeks of Bactrim , which she is almost finished . BUT .... I am still seeing the green OCCASIONALLY after she pees . Her pee is still clear yellow . I dont see the green every pee ..... maybe once a day and usually in the AM . I am wondering if we need to do a Culture and Sensitivity on her urine ? or could this possibly be anything else ?
She is acting totally normal , no temp ect .

No, only when she pees and only once or twice
a day ..... and she pees about 10-20 times a day

Does she only have a discharge when she pees?
Or does she have a discharge at other times as well? When Morgan had vaginitis, she had a discharge at random.

I would have it cultured
don't want to use so many antibiotics.

My most memborable experience with vaginitis
and it was with an 8yo bitch, was that the vet scared me into thinking she had a pyometra infection and we rushed to spay her...turns out it was just vaginitis and the surgery was very hard on the old gal...sorry that I let him rush me into that (changed vets afterward) and the vaginitis cleared with medication but sorry, I don't recall what drug exactly.
