Is there any homemade ear cleaning remedies?

The ear cleaner from the vet I find makes my guys have more guk. Pugsley has allergies and gets yucky ears, and I have a sphynx cat that gets yucky ears. The vet stuff seems to make it worse, it's hard to explain. I was wondering if there is something I can use that is natural and I can concoct at home.

Thanks!

Thank you all, I knew I would get great answers here,

This will be alot better for them than that vet stuff.

Thanks!

here's mine

2 tbspns boric acid(this is poison so be careful to wash hands after using)
16 drops of genetian violet
1 reg size bottle of alcohol(I guess 16 oz)

mix well in a dark colored bottle. You can squirt it in the ear or on a paper towel and wipe out-be cautious as the violet will stain. I usually use it in the yard. 2x a day 1st week, 1x a day 2nd week, 3x a week the 3rd week and by 4th week should be on once a week regimen.

To those who understand no explanation is needed. To those who don't no explanation is possible.

Hi Miranda.....

I usually take a little container and mix my solution in it (hydrogen peroxide and apple cider vinegar and a little warm water). Then I take Q-Tips and will dip an end in the solution, then clean down into the dogs ears. I never squirt the stuff in there, I may not be able to get the ear canal all the way dry and then the ears get worse!

Best luck to you.

Can you email me....I may know of a 10 week old boy with SB that will need placing. I may not know for a couple weeks....

Can these be squirted into the ear, or just on a cloth to wipe?

I want to make sure I don't squirt anything in there that shouldn't be, should I just wipe the ear out with a cloth dipped in the solution, or can I squirt it in and then wipe the ears out? That is what I do with the vet solution, but I don't like it.

Thank you!
