Anybody else's bullie shedding like crazy this time of year? I pinch some of his coat and a lot of hair easily comes right off. Is this normal or are we missing something in his diet? We're currently feeding Natural Balance (Chicken)..

Supplementing with fish oil for the omega 3's. Some use organic salmon oil, some the regular fish oil caps. I have my two on 3V caps that I buy on the internet. Also, daily brushing will help stimulate the natural oils in the coat. I like using a zoom groom (soft rubber fingers) for a daily brush. I scrub the dog all over, then brush in one direction. BTW - you may want to do this outside! LOL

Spanky has the same problem. He even has a few bald spots on his back. Our vet told us to drizzle about a teaspoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on his dry food in the morning. I'm not sure if it has helped his fur, but he really likes it!

Thanks for the response, i'm wondering if there is any other form of Omega 3 besides fish oil? i have a hunch my girl is having skin issues due to fish based products. I had her on fish & sp natural balance and changed to venison & sw NB. she was doing great pretty good getting her skin back after a horrible bout of mange (rescue) and i started adding fish oil supp and green beans and she started in with a skin infeciton again. i am at a loss now as to which way to turn. i tried the brushing and that skin erruption flared up 2 days later. i am back to just kibble and yogurt. she was on antibiotics for her skin/idc issues, and the skin erruptions happened the day after her last A/B, so it should have still been in her system. any words of wisdom? thanks T & J

I bought a furminator from the vets office here works good as a comb to get out all the dead fur really does cut down on the shedding and hair all over the house
Gus is my shedder Bella rarely sheds Gus has a very thick coat Bella coat is not thick at all
maybe that has something to do with the shedding. I know in the pugs, the one that has the thickest coat sheds alot more too

Flax Oil
supposedly works the same for people... it might be something to investigate.
