Red itchy ear

Hi, my Frida has a very red ear, the redness is all the way out to the tip of her ear, she has been shaking her head alot and scratching it to the point that it is bleedeing a little. I washed it out this morning with ear wash. I have an appt with the vet on Friday but i was wondering if i could use some ottomax in it, I also have some Cephlaxin that i did not use before would it be ok to give any of this to her. I totally forgot i have zymox otic enzymatic solution, but i just read on the instructions not to use it in conjunction with ear washes or other ear treatments. sad.gif already washed her ear. Please help she she seems so miserable.

BTW, nothing has changed in her diet so i'm not sure what is causing her ear problem, maybe something outside? Should i give her a benadryl?

Thanks!
Marti

we have made "blue power solution" a couple times

and have had real good success with it. it can not be used if the ear drum has been damaged.

the alcohol cleans, and dries
the boric acid sooths
and the violet stuff keeps away infection.

the alcohol will sting if the skin has been roughed up. I believe that you can use witch hazel liquid instead of alcahol, i have never tried it that way.

costs about $10 to make a years supply, and all the stuff can be picked up over the counter at a pharmacy.

best of luck.
