I accidentally posted this to forum 1 earlier...can anyone help me?
AHHH! Nacho was sooo sick last week after we game him the frontline plus & heart guard wednesday night. He was all bumpy the next day (Thurs). The vet gave him a benadryll shot & Tameril-P pills. The next morning (Fri), he was puking every 1/2 hour & wouldn't even look at his food or H2O til 4pm! We took him off the pills & he was feeling good & bump free Saturday a.m. Now he's bumpy again! What is this & what should I do?! The vet isn't open til 9am tomorrow!!! He's only 5 months so I'm a worried momma!
Thanks:)

benadryl only last 4-6 hours in humans and approx 8 hours in puppys dosage is 1mg per pound if you buy adult benadryl it comes in 25mg tablets childrens benadryl comes in 12.5 mg tablets or 12.5 mg per teaspoon. I would give him/her a dose once in am and once in pm. might make him/her sleepy but that is a norm response to benadryl. Hope this helps Let us know what the vet says!

I would give him benadryl by mouth
until you can get him back to the vet... You know an allergic reaction can take days or weeks to get over esp when it comes to a drug that is suppose to last 30 days... and benadryl only last for 4-6 hours so I would definately give him/her some orally until you can get him back to the vet in the morning!
hope this helps

notes on Benadryl dosing
As Dawn said, it could take several days or even couple weeks for a medication to clear you dog's system. Most of us dose using the 25mg tablets (one mg per body weight or nearest) so for a 5mo old bulldog I would expect you would be giving ONE 25mg tablet. Benadryl can be given every 8hrs if needed for hives or other allergic reaction but at that dose some dogs become drowsy, so a lighter dose would be to give twice daily, both in AM and PM. Most bulldogs tolerate that quite well. If you need to give this medication more than 3 consecutive days, you may want to double-check with your vet to be sure that he approves continued use, or he may want you to give something else.

Re: correction
That is about all you can do for an allergic reaction I know sometimes if the reaction is really really bad they will give you a script for steroids but you dont want them on them if you can help it. I know it can be annoying but stick with the benadryl and they will go away but remember if this is an allergic reaction to a medication that is going to stay in his system for 30 days it might take that 30 days for his system to rid it self of it I just would NOT give him anymore of it. Try something new.
Hope he feels better! Hang in there it will get better!

Re: correction
All the vet said was to give him benadryll. I hope the bumps will permanently dissappear. I still don't know what caused them:(
