new rescue

So here's my story, I'd been hearing about this dog, this guy was selling, at 1500.00, I'd heard the dog had been outside all summer in 100 heat, that was about a month a ago, and I'd been worried about him for that month. So all of a sudden now he wants 600.00. So I go just to look at him, really not intending to buy him as I couldn't afford him comfortably, but I go look and immediately write a check. This guy is covered in open sores, cherry eyes in both eyes, and pus pouring out of eyes. Fleas and ticks just falling off him. He's got demonex and one whole side of face is raw. I absolutely could not leave him there. He won't even come near the wife that showed him me, and according to them, he won't come in the house, he likes it outside. Yeah right. So I get him home and give him a bath, that leaves about a inch of grime and bugs in the tub, and just heart breaking because he is just the sweetest boy. Hasn't left my side since I got him. Took him to the vet and got the medicines going. He's improving rapidly and his personality is starting to come back. He just barked at my other bulldog, I'm pretty sure he thought he was in his spot. We have harmony at last, as my other bully who has been nuetured, decided he was going to get obsessive about humping him. So I've been reading about the demonex. The vet gave me the dip not the oral med. and antibiotics, and eye drops and ear ointment. No parasites if you can believe it, I couldn't. He said we need to tuck the cherry eyes, at a later date, as he has low tear count already. What do you give them to build up immune system? 1st don't want my other bully to get anything,as he has replace humping with licking, and to help newbie get over demonex? Thanks so much. Also...

a fish oil capsule daily will help too.

Awww, he looks like such a sweetie...

I'm so glad he has a good home now. To boost his immune system I would give him a good quality food (Taste of the wild, Natural balance, or something similar, try for no grains), one pet tab daily, one vit E (200 units), one zinc (25 mg), one Ester C (usually comes in 600 mgs) and if I'm forgetting something, I'm sure someone else will jump in. My first boy had the dips for demodex and he was free of the mites after 4 dips.
