One of Boss's cherry eye's doesn't look as bad as the other, when I get the infection cleared up, should I try and rub that one back in? Since I have no idea how long it has been that way?
Also, it appears the demonex is not contagious, since alot of you breed and raise bullies, is that true or do I need to worry about that for Booger, my original bully. He's got the on going skin allergies, but he's pretty controlled right now. Nutra's holistic food is working for us. But I mean even if he's licking at Boss's face, I'm not letting him, but as I said he's a little obsessive and get's by me occassionally.
And if anyone knows a good eye doc for his eye in the Dallas area, that would be good.
Any other input would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Thanks

Thanks so all of you so much, this forum has been my research guide for years for Booger. I've been a, what do you call it, computer spy? Anyhow, Thanks to all of you who replied.

Re: You are so sweet to take that poor guy in.....

Thanks so much, I already love him. He looks so much better already. I'm so glad to have him. He is going to be so spoiled, just like Booger.

Ok. Thanks so much for your help. I will get the supplements, I'm using Nutra holistic food right now and it seems to be keeping Boogers alleries at bay. Would you still change to the other food?

Glad you got him now and if he is 18 mo he did need all the shot

occur in pups under 6 mo. due to all the shots, leaving their mom, a new home and environment. Stress is what seems to initiate the mange problem which all these things contribute to plus a poor immune system.
I really like the dips best as they seem to get rid of the mange much faster than the ivermectin which is given internally. I would much rather put poison on the outside than inside.

eye infection

That stupid cow I got him from was going to poor peroxide in his eyes to treat his eye infection. Can you imagine? The guy said he has papers but the breeder he got him from wanted to stud him and was holding the papers. I told him that was ridiculous you could not breed that mess of a dog. He had this whole story worked out, but last nite I started thinking he might be stolen. Both my dogs are kinda rejects, Booger was given to me, because he was humping this girls better quality english bulldog, I had him fixed and he has been the joy of my life, except for my son, kinda. haha. Booger is really big, he's about 70 lbs and you tell from the pic he's not fat.

rabbies

Ok,we think he's about 18 months old, the guy said 6 months once then 18 another time. The vet thinks about 18. And he gave him rabbies shot and got him current on all shots. So what does that mean? What to watch out for, does that also affect immune system?

ALL DOGS HAVE Demodectic mites on them it is only the oines that

immune system that get mange from them due to the fact that the mites get out of control. I give all my pups as soon as they are around 3 mo. old (daily) 1 Pet Tab, 200 IUs vit E, 25 MGs zinc and an ester c lowest dosage. These combined build up the immune system plus DO NOT let the vet give a rabies shot at the same time as the final 3 in 1 puppy shot, preferably wait until the pup is closer to 8 mo.
All dogs have mites as do we they are natures way of cleaning the hair folicles, it is only when the dogs or peoples immune system gets bad that they present a problem. Mainly in people in eyebrows and lashes.

Re: I can only offer one small tidbit for you right now...

Thanks so much. Everybody is pretty calm now, but it was a fun filled couple of days. But yes, point taken. Booger, the original was looking really good too, for this time of year. The new guy is suck a joy, can't imagine anyone not treasuring him.

I can only offer one small tidbit for you right now...

...but I am sure one of the really experienced bulldoggers will answer your questions shortly.

I was recently reading up on demodectic mange. It appears that traditionally it was thought that the mites could only be transferred between mother and pup, so it was not considered "contagious". However there have been cases of unrelated dogs in the same household getting demodectic mange, so the way of thinking may be changing. It's thought now that the mites MIGHT be able to move from dog to dog, but if the second dog has a healthy immune system then it shouldn't become an issue, the mites just join up with the dog's existing mites (all dogs have them) and continue to live in harmony.

If that's the case, and your booger already has allergy and skin issues, as well as the possibility of increased stress because of the new dog in the house, then my feeling would be to separate them for now, until things with the new addition get a little more under control. It may also make it easier for the new guy to recover if he doesn't have to deal with the added stress of living with a new dog, at least for a while.

Just a thought. Like I say, one of the experienced people will post sooner than later, I am sure. They're pretty great around here.

Good luck with your dogs, it's good of you to take this lovely new fella in.

Cheers
