We're on a roll-3rd bitch in a row to get this......Nikki has it in 2 teats, been on antibiotics(ceph) for 3 days and goes to see the vet tomorrow. We are watching and testing the other teats to make sure they remain good. The pups are 10 days so we need the remaining teats to hang in there at least another 2 weeks. Do not look forward to bottle feeding another litter. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make her more comfortable? She is on 1500 mg of ceph daily, I have been doing warm compresses since yesterday and trying to strip the infected teats and of course, have them taped off to keep puppies off of them.

To those who understand no explanation is needed. To those who don't no explanation is possible.
Not sure about dogs, but for humans...
I am a lactation consultant (for people, LOL). When you are dealing with mastitis, it is best to nurse on the affected breast as often as possible. When you stop nursing on those teats, the milk is still there and inflammation will get worse. Keep the milk moving and it will resolve faster. Also, for human babies, there is no reason to stop nursing on that breast. The milk is not tainted and won't adversely affect the infant. Letting them nurse will definitely make the momma feel better!
Hope she gets better!
