Lots of phlegm and throwing up at night... coincidence?

Our 9 month old little guy has been waking up in the morning with a lot of congestion and phlegm. We read on here that some of you give your bullies a squeeze of lemon juice to help release the phlegm and that does help. But for the past 2 nights he has been throwing up in the middle of the night. It is kind of a clear, foamy throw up along with full pieces of food being as we don't chew all our food when we eat. We feel it is related to the extreme congestion but are unsure.

Has anyone had any issues with this? Wanted to ask before we call the vet.

You may want to consider...

Having the palate checked. I read somewhere that in sleep, when the throat structures relax, it can allow an elongated palate to stimulate the gag - thereby causing the dog to vomit. It may be that all you have to do, for now, is get him to sleep with his head on a pillow or bolster. As the pup grows, so does the palate, so it may need to be trimmed. I had Q's done when I had him neutered.

Have you turned the heat on?

Cash has trouble with dry heat in the winter - he wakes up phlegmmy sometimes hacking some up. When the heat is off or he sleeps in the open part of the house he's fine.
