LIFESPAN of bullies...
Submitted by Anonymous on April 20, 2010 - 11:19pmI was talking on the phone last night to great bully dog breeder on the board here and we were discussing the importance of genetics.
I think genetics goes along way to how long your dog lives in general.
I had a boston that lived to be 19 and half. she did not eat the greatest dog food, had a spinal injury at a year and half.
her parents lived a long time and so did her grandparents.
what do you think the role of genetics plays in the lifespan of the English bulldog or any breed for that matter. MIND you good diet and good excersise and health helps too..lol
Bella my female bulldog here, father is still living at 14 and chases their snowmoible in the winter through the snow. sooooooo hopefully Bella has a long life span too.

I agree about Genetics playing a role
and some of those important characteristics relate to breathing structures and strong immune system. Mimi lived to 13 and her daughter is now 12.5yrs but alas, the grandson died unexpectedly at 8.5yrs and he appeared to be healthy right up to that last day.

I lost my first bulldog just before christmas.. she was almost 16 yrs old..her son jack

died a few mnth later at 14 yrs old..
I home cooked their food..
Lace. almost 16 here
her son jack at 14 yrs old.
