IAMS Premium Dog Food, Senior Formula

Does anyone feed their senior bulldog IAMS Premium Dog Food, Senior Formula? We adopted 8 year old Spanky 3 months ago and this is the food he was on. His previous owner and the vet both advised us not to change his food, as he has a sensitive stomach, so we haven't. I have read some negative reviews of this food on the internet, but when I mentioned this to the vet she laughed at me and said every dog food has some bad reviews. Actually, most of the bad reviews were for the regular Iams that is sold at Walmart, rather than the senior version that I buy from PetSmart. I was just wondering if anyone else uses it for their bulldog.

We have started giving him only 1/2 cup at a time and soaking in water to encourage him to slow down from gulping. He eats about 2 and 1/2 cups a day and he acts as if he is starving. Due to the arthritis in his hips, I really don't want him to be overweight. He is also taking Synovi G3 Glucosamine Soft Chews.

Thanks in advance for any information you might share!

I would not change it if it's working for him

The primary ingredients of Iams Senior Chicken and Rice Are:

Chicken Broth, Chicken, Beef By-Products, Brewers Rice, Whitefish, Chicken Liver, Fish Meal, Dried Beet Pulp (sugar removed), and Dried Egg Product.

Further down the list are a number of vitamin and mineral supplements. This food is preserved with Vitamin C; there are no artificial or potentially dangerous preservatives like BHA, BHT or Ethoxyquin.

I know Iams has a bad rep but as you mention this formula is different.
Bulldogs are known to eat like pigs so this is pretty normal happy.gif
