Hives?

My six month old (ellie mae) has little tufts of fur sticking up. She got agitated this morning when I wasnt here to get her up at her usual time. She barked and cried for about an hour and then when I let her out of her pen, she had all these little patches of fur sticking up everywhere. It reminds me of hives. This happened once before but not as many and they went away in a couple hours. Has anyone else experienced this and do you think I shoul call the vet about it? She acts just fine and is her usual happy playful self.

Thanks for any advice
Barb

what food is she on or did you give her something new?

give one benadryl tablet and it should subside in a few hrs to a day. For my boys, it's usually the food and I have been switching with all the brands, so I keep track of what they are allergic to. They are allergic to whey, soy, wheat, corn, grains, etc. The food that they do well on is Natural balance duck and potatoes or TOTW pacific stream. I have long switched them off these food as they don't like it and refuse to eat. They are now on Orijen chicken(which is a grainfree food) and are doing great much better than the NB or TOTW.

When the hair sticks up like that, if you touch the skin, you will find bumps and it itches and makes the dog feels very uncomfortable. If it's the food switch it, sometimes febreeze can cause this if you spray it or wash their beddings in detergent that has febreeze too.

were on the same boat

Our bella has the same situation right now. We have tried a few things but they keep coming back. Outr vet wants to say its fleas but i think hes full of it, he just wanted to make a quick $100 on some flea control.
Ill let you know if we find a remedy.

Plus bellas fur will prety much just fall out all over her back, with no persuasion at all. this is another one of her symptoms shes had since the hive thing.
