Healing time after spaying
Submitted by Anonymous on April 20, 2010 - 11:14pmWe are taking Lulu to be spayed on saturday morning and I am wondering how long recovery will take, I have read that it can take up to two weeks.
Also is there anything specific she needs while recovering, the vet said that she will be given additional pain killers after surgery.

When my Kano was spayed...
She was groggy for the first day, stoned for the second (pain meds are a wonderful thing!), and back to her normal perky self by day 3. I gave her pain med for 5 days after surgery - more for my benefit than for hers. She was on activity restriction for 2 weeks (which was really hard to maintain!). Kano was done by laser, so there were no external sutures.
