Black english bulldogs?

I have been doing some research and have found that there doesnt seem to be any purebred English Bulldogs that are solid black or even black marked. I think it would be awesome to own a healthy purebred solid black English Bulldog. If there are any purebred can you please help me find them?

Thanks.

I want to say thanks too

It sure is nice to hear your comments, wish ya'll could have met my Winston, the pictures I posted really don't do him justice, I just wanted to show that yes there are Black Bulldogs out there and okay it is not a desirable colour but at the end of the day unless a person is hell bent to do well in a show ring then there are better qualities to be concerned over than the colour of a dogs coat happy.gif
Joe your Bully has that same coat sheen mine had, I miss brushing his coat, I could brush my other two Bullys all day and never get their coat to look as beautiful as his did, enjoy your Bully happy.gif

I have a mostly black one... Here are some pics

I have a mostly black one actually, I purchased from a breeder in PA (I live in MA). The breeder was a friend of one of my father's friends.

The mother was brown, and the father was white/(black/brindle)

All of the babies were very dark brindle or white and we picked the one that was clearly almost all black. Her back legs have grayish brindle and the rest of her are black/white.

We like that she was black, since I had a traditional brown one prior to her and different. We had no plans on showing etc.

Until recently most people thought she was a black pug, but now she's looking much more bully (she's 9-10 months). Often times around other bulldog owners they always doubt she is a 100% bully, but I could careless what they think. I'm not sure why Black isn't a suitable Bulldog color, but I'm sure there are reasons I'm unaware of as I don't know anything about showing/breeding etc. I also think a solid black would be cool.

I uploaded some pics so people can check her out if interested. She's a real princess.... (she is loving her new buddy belt I purchased as a result of the praise on here)

Here are two current pics:

He is gorgeous, my husband asked if they came black, I thought n

I would rescue one if it was to be put down, for sure I would, I would have a blue too. I love blue dogs, I had a blue pinscher, of course blue is not allowed so we took her. Even though it's not allowed in the show ring, I think a dog should never ever be put down or viewed as an outcast because of colour, it can be a loving pet.

If anyone has an outcast, send it to me! My favourite boxer is the white ones, I would not want the standard colours.

I like the underdogs..lol.

Re: Black english bulldogs?

We had a Bulldog that was mostly solid black, had white on face and chest and brindle paws. We purchased him in UK nearly 13 years ago.

He was just gorgeous, he was sold to us a pet quality, at the time the breeder explained to us that many breeders would have destroyed him, I could never understand that. He was an total superstar had the most loving personality, was smart, did so many tricks, we loved that dog to bits
.
He died the day before Christmas eve at 12 years old, had a heart attack, we knew he had a bad heart toward the end, had him on heart drugs. Apart from the last 9 months with his heart he was 100% healthy, no joint problems, no eye problems... none of the stuff bulldogs are prone to get.

All that let him down was his colour.I will tell you everyone who met him just adored him and loved his colour, I never heard a negative comment, his coat and the sheen on it was just beautiful. I will try to poat a photo when I am home on my own laptop.

I am so glad the breeder gave him the chance of life. In my mind to kill a puppy for no other reason than coat colour is evil. He was our first bulldog. My other bulldogs have been 'accepted' colour, colour was good but not everything else! My black baby spoiled me :)I rescued my female who is what I call an orange kind of brindle and she has been a piece of work with allergies, had to have tail amputated and seasonal flank alopecia. I also have a red and white puppy from a breeder I found on this board and he is turning into a piece of work too! Two cherry eyes, umbilical hernia and something going on with his right leg!

I love them all to bits, my Black male will always be my baby tho, I am still devastated over him.

read the standard, Black is a no no

and not desirable. Old time breeders would put them down just like white boxers.
